Located just south of Escondido and considered to be one of San Diego finest master planned communities, Rancho Bernardo, consists of 7,000 acres, 17,000 homes, and 45,000 residents. While it is, in fact, part of the City of San Diego, it is still a community within itself, governed by a Community Council, a Planning Board, and a Recreation Council which represents the community at city functions.

Rancho Bernardo has a nice mix of small service and retail businesses, including attorneys, computer services, financial services, real estate, mortgage and escrow companies, high tech businesses and a steady growing number of people working from their homes. Home to one of the largest (685 acres) industrial parks in San Diego County, the Rancho Bernardo Industrial Park is located southwest of freeway I-15. Filled with mostly research / development and high tech firms, it employs over 35,000 employees and is still growing. With big name companies such as Northrop Grumman, Time Warner, Sony Electronics and Hewlitt-Packard, it's easy to see how this has become one of the largest industrial parks in San Diego.
